Democracy for Snohomish County

Our Agenda and Focus

Welcome to DFSC

Democracy for Snohomish County was established in 2004 as a non-profit Political Action Committee to promote Progressive issues and candidates in Snohomish County and Washington State.

Why a Progressive Agenda?

For too long now our country and indeed Snohomish County has been drifting into a new era of corporate rule. We have seen our legislatures and city and county councils seemingly turn over the reigns of government to the highest bidders. They have, on too many occasions, turned their backs on the will of the people and given in to the promise of short term low-paying jobs and false progress in the form of pavement, concrete and steel.

A Progressive agenda is about putting the voice of the people first and requiring the government to put the needs and desires of the citizens above the profit line of big business.

Empowering the People

We believe that knowledge is power. We also believe that silence equals consent. An informed AND ACTIVE community can make a real difference in the way government responds. This is the central idea behind DFSC's desire to sponsor and conduct public forums on the issues.

Unfortunately, with the shift to corporate rule, comes the tendency toward corporate media as well. Much of the information that gets to the public is merely a repeat of the corporate message. This is not to say that everything we read or hear is false; it is simply a one-sided story. We believe that you are entitled to all sides of an issue before you decide on a candidate or ballot measure.

Democracy for Snohomish County (PAC) was formed as a State non-profit PAC in 2004 to provide a vehicle for Progressive minded activists in Snohomish County to raise and spend money in support of Progressive candidates and issues without regard to political affiliation.

One of our primary goals is to be a source of information for the general public and, to this end, we have held public forums on election reform and creating sustainable communities. Our speakers have been state legislators, state and county election officials, a former State Supreme Court Justice, as well as community activists.

We contribute time, money, and resources to help gain victories in these state and local races.
